“Create unlimited productivity with intelligent machines.”
Chinese humanoid startup. A2 humanoid targets manufacturing applications. Backed by Zhangjiang Hi-Tech.
AGIBOT is a Chinese humanoid robotics company founded in 2023 in Shanghai's Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, one of China's premier innovation districts. Despite being one of the newer entrants in the humanoid space, AGIBOT has moved quickly, securing over one billion yuan in initial funding from investors including state-backed venture funds and Zhangjiang's innovation ecosystem.
The company's A2 humanoid is designed specifically for manufacturing applications, reflecting AGIBOT's view that the most commercially tractable near-term use case for humanoid robots is in structured factory environments where the value of flexible automation is clearly quantifiable. The A2 features a full bipedal form factor with dexterous hands capable of performing assembly tasks, and is being developed with a strong emphasis on the AI software needed for reliable task execution in production settings.
AGIBOT operates within a supportive policy environment, as China's national robotics strategy explicitly includes humanoid robots as a strategic technology priority, providing access to government grants, favourable procurement, and infrastructure support that accelerates commercial development.
AGIBOT does not currently have a UK commercial presence or European distribution network. UK businesses interested in early access should monitor the company's international expansion announcements. As a very recently founded company with a large domestic market to address first, UK availability is likely at least 18 to 24 months away from any initial commercial deployment timeline. Import via specialist robotics importers may be possible for research purposes.
No secondhand market exists for AGIBOT platforms at this stage, as the company has not yet shipped units beyond controlled pilot programmes. Any future secondhand market will depend entirely on the scale of initial commercial deployment. Given the company's software-centric approach and dependence on cloud AI services for full functionality, buyers of any future used units should carefully verify software licensing and connectivity requirements.
AGIBOT is also listed in our Suppliers Directory for component and systems sourcing.
