About Xiaomi

Xiaomi was founded in 2010 and has grown into one of the world's largest consumer electronics companies, with products spanning smartphones, smart home devices, electric vehicles, and robotics. The company entered the robotics market with the CyberDog quadruped, a product that demonstrated Xiaomi's ability to develop sophisticated hardware at competitive consumer price points, a skill honed across years of smartphone and appliance manufacturing.

CyberDog was positioned as both a consumer product and a developer platform, sold at approximately 9,999 RMB (around £1,100 at time of launch), significantly undercutting comparable quadrupeds from Boston Dynamics and Unitree. A second-generation CyberDog followed with improved sensors, onboard compute, and aesthetic refinements. Xiaomi has also revealed the CyberOne humanoid concept, indicating longer-term ambitions in the bipedal space.

Xiaomi's robotics efforts benefit from the company's existing supply chain, manufacturing scale, and its large installed base of smart home devices that can integrate with robotic platforms.

Key Products

• CyberDog: Consumer and developer-focused quadruped robot with NVIDIA Jetson compute and ROS2 support.
• CyberDog 2: Second-generation quadruped with improved agility, sensors, and refined design.
• CyberOne: Bipedal humanoid concept robot shown in development.

UK Market Presence

CyberDog units are available in the UK through grey import channels and specialist robotics retailers, as Xiaomi does not currently offer the product through official UK consumer channels. Prices for CyberDog 2 via grey import typically fall between £1,200 and £1,600. UK buyers should be aware that warranty and support through Chinese retail channels may not apply domestically.

Buying Used Xiaomi CyberDog Equipment

Used CyberDog units appear on eBay UK and specialist forums, typically priced between £600 and £1,100. Battery condition, joint wear, and sensor calibration are key checks. ROS2 software support is community-maintained and actively developed, meaning older firmware versions retain a degree of support. Xiaomi's official support for UK units is limited, so community resources are the primary maintenance avenue.
