Miso Robotics' fry-station automation robot with 6 DoF, deployed at White Castle and Sodexo sites across the US. Subscription pricing model reduces upfront cost. Handles basket loading, frying and unloading autonomously, reducing kitchen labour costs and improving consistency during peak service periods.
Miso Robotics' Flippy 2 is a commercial fry-station automation system designed for high-volume quick-service restaurants. Unlike conventional kitchen robots that occupy dedicated workcells, Flippy 2 mounts directly over existing fry stations, allowing operators to retrofit their current kitchen layout without significant structural modification. The system has been deployed at White Castle locations across the United States and through Sodexo catering contracts, making it one of the most commercially validated fry automation platforms available today.
The arm uses six degrees of freedom to replicate the motion of a trained fryer operator: lowering basket handles, shaking frozen product to separate individual pieces, monitoring cook cycles, and raising baskets at the correct moment. Integrated computer vision monitors food colour and texture in real time, reducing the inconsistency associated with shift changes or trainee operators.
Flippy 2 is suited to high-throughput QSR environments where fry station turnover is constant and labour retention is challenging. It performs particularly well in late-night and early-morning shifts when staffing is thinnest. Stadium concessions, motorway service operators, and hospital catering facilities operating continuous service windows are natural fit environments.
In the UK, contract catering groups managing multi-site university canteens or airport terminals represent the most likely early adopters, particularly as minimum wage legislation continues to raise the cost base of round-the-clock kitchen operations.
Flippy 2 is deployed as a subscription or leased model rather than a direct capital purchase, so there is no conventional secondary market. Operators returning units at contract end typically do so directly to Miso Robotics rather than listing them publicly. No meaningful used market exists at this time.
Operators considering Flippy 2 should also evaluate the Keenon DINERBOT T10 for front-of-house delivery automation as a complementary investment, and look at Pudu FlashBot for high-speed back-of-house logistics. For full kitchen automation rather than a single station, Moley Robotics Kitchen Robot is the premium alternative, though at a substantially higher price point.
