Fully autonomous kitchen robot from Moley Robotics with 20 DoF hands that replicate professional chef movements. Cooks from a digital recipe library of 5,000 plus dishes. Priced at $250,000 for residential and commercial installations; aimed at luxury homes, hotel suites, and premium catering environments.
The Moley Robotics Kitchen Robot is the world's first fully autonomous domestic and commercial kitchen robot, built around a pair of highly dexterous arms with 20 degrees of freedom each. Developed in the UK and premiered at Hannover Messe 2015, the system has since reached its first commercial availability at a price point of approximately $250,000 for the fully enclosed installation. Each arm replicates human hand motion with a fidelity sufficient to follow recipes recorded from professional chefs, including BBC MasterChef winner Tim Anderson.
Moley's approach centres on a motion-capture library of chef performances. These recordings are translated into precise arm trajectories that the robot executes repeatably, matching timing, temperature, and plating presentation. The enclosed kitchen unit integrates an induction hob, oven, storage, and washing facilities within a single fitted cabinet, making it suitable for high-value residential builds or boutique hospitality installations.
Primary applications are ultra-premium residential kitchens, superyachts, high-spec corporate headquarters, and boutique hotels seeking a signature dining experience. The system is also well suited to care homes and assisted living facilities where residents benefit from consistent, freshly prepared meals without requiring full catering staff on every shift.
In the UK, the product has attracted interest from London-based luxury residential developers and private members' clubs, where the novelty and automation value justify the capital outlay.
Given the price point and limited installed base, a secondary market is effectively non-existent at this stage. Early adopters are unlikely to sell units publicly. Buyers should contact Moley Robotics directly for any refurbished or demonstration units that may become available.
For commercial kitchen environments with a lower budget, Miso Robotics Flippy 2 addresses a narrower use case at considerably lower cost. For front-of-house service automation that complements a kitchen investment, Bear Robotics Servi or Keenon DINERBOT T10 are the leading delivery robot options.
