Borg 01

Overview

The Borg 01 is a full-size bipedal humanoid from Borg Robotics, standing 173 cm with up to 12 hours of claimed runtime and a focus on security and surveillance applications. Pricing has not been published and the platform is on pre-order with no confirmed commercial production timeline. Borg Robotics positions the Borg 01 as an autonomous security patrol robot capable of operating through a full overnight shift without recharging, addressing the operational continuity requirement that limits most current humanoid platforms in around-the-clock security roles. If the 12-hour runtime claim is validated in real-world patrol conditions, the Borg 01 would represent a step change in operational economics for security applications compared with platforms requiring mid-shift charging.

Key Specifications

• Height: 173 cm
• Runtime: up to 12 hours (manufacturer claim)
• Target application: security and surveillance
• Price: not announced
• Status: pre-order

Use Cases

The Borg 01 is designed for perimeter patrol, access control assistance, and anomaly detection in industrial, commercial, and public environments. UK security operators should note that deployment in public spaces requires compliance with the Surveillance Camera Commissioner's code of practice, UK GDPR, and any sector-specific regulations that may apply to autonomous monitoring systems.

Buying Used

No secondhand units exist. The platform has not yet entered commercial production. Prospective buyers should wait for independent validation of the runtime and locomotion specifications before committing to a pre-order. Borg Robotics is a less established manufacturer than most in this list, and the absence of a pilot deployment track record makes independent due diligence especially important for UK operators considering significant capital commitments.

Alternatives to Consider

• 1X Technologies EVE R3: wheeled humanoid already deployed in commercial security environments with an operational track record
• Kepler K2 ($248,000): bipedal with high payload, a more developed platform
• Knightscope K5: non-humanoid security robot with an established UK and US track record in comparable roles
