Boston Dynamics' all-electric 2024 Atlas at 1.9 m tall, 90 kg, with 56 DoF, 2.3 m reach, and 50 kg instantaneous / 30 kg sustained payload. IP67-rated with 4-hour battery life and autonomous self-swapping charging. Features 360-degree rotating joints enabling movements beyond human range of motion. Available for qualified industrial partners; targeted at automotive and advanced manufacturing.
The Boston Dynamics 2024 Atlas is the all-electric successor to the hydraulic Atlas, standing 1.9 m with a 50 kg instantaneous and 30 kg sustained payload capacity. Announced in 2024, the electric Atlas represents a fundamental redesign, removing hydraulics entirely in favour of electric actuators that reduce maintenance complexity and operational noise. Boston Dynamics has partnered with Hyundai, its parent company, for initial industrial deployment, focusing on automotive manufacturing tasks in Hyundai group facilities. The transition to electric actuation also opens the door to software-defined motion profiles that are impractical with hydraulic systems, enabling smoother and more varied movement patterns. The 2024 Atlas is not yet widely available for external purchase and availability is limited to select Hyundai group facilities.
The electric Atlas targets automotive manufacturing, particularly within Hyundai's own production lines. Its high payload and Boston Dynamics' unmatched dynamic motion capability make it the benchmark for agile industrial humanoids. The removal of hydraulics reduces the maintenance burden that constrained the original Atlas's industrial applicability.
No secondhand units are available. 1X Technologies is still in early commercial stages and units have not been sold to a wide enough customer base for a secondhand market to exist. UK buyers interested in EVE R3 should contact 1X directly regarding international availability and pricing, as the company has indicated plans to expand beyond the North American market. Deep Robotics' track record with its quadruped products suggests it will provide structured maintenance support when the DR01 reaches commercial availability, but buyers should confirm service terms and UK parts availability before committing. Import and customs costs from China should be factored into total cost of ownership calculations for UK buyers. The 2024 Atlas has only recently entered limited production, and Boston Dynamics is unlikely to allow unrestricted secondhand transfer of early units outside its formal partner network.
