Unitree's upcoming wheeled-leg hybrid robot with approximately 16 kg continuous walking payload and 3-hour unloaded runtime. Pre-order status as of 2024; combines leg mobility with wheeled efficiency for logistics and inspection applications. Pricing and UK availability to be confirmed on commercial release.
The Unitree AS2-W is Unitree Robotics' upcoming wheeled-leg hybrid robot, available for pre-order as of 2026. It combines a quadrupedal frame with wheels on the feet, enabling both legged locomotion over rough terrain and efficient wheeled rolling on flat surfaces. Unitree Robotics is the Hangzhou-based manufacturer behind the Go2 and B2 series, and the AS2-W represents the company's entry into the wheeled-leg hybrid category, which several other manufacturers are also developing as a next-generation solution for indoor-outdoor logistics.
The wheeled-leg design addresses a fundamental tradeoff in mobile robotics: legged robots handle uneven terrain well but are energy-intensive and slow on flat floors, while wheeled robots are efficient on flat surfaces but cannot traverse steps or rough terrain. The AS2-W attempts to provide both capabilities in a single platform.
Full specifications including top rolling speed, battery runtime, IP rating, and weight are not yet published by Unitree. Buyers should treat pre-published specifications as indicative and await final datasheet confirmation before committing to integration design.
The intended use cases include last-mile logistics in environments combining smooth warehouse floors with ramps, doorways, or uneven yard surfaces; light inspection of mixed-terrain facilities; and research into wheeled-legged locomotion control. The hybrid design aims to reduce energy consumption compared to pure legged walking on flat surfaces, which is a practical concern for multi-hour inspection deployments.
As a pre-order product, no secondhand units exist at the time of writing. Early adopters should anticipate typical pre-production delays and allow additional time for firmware maturation before committing to production deployment. Unitree's track record with the Go2 and B2 series suggests reasonable SDK support will follow, but as with any new platform, early adopters accept higher integration risk.
